New Medicine Service

New Medicine Service (NMS) is a free service, funded by the NHS and provided by your Pharmacist to help you to get the most out of your new medicine.

The service provides support for patients with long-term conditions who have been prescribed a new medication, to improve the patient’s knowledge and understanding of the medicine they are taking and how and why it will help them in the future.

This is an NHS service and only certain medicines prescribed are covered by the NHS. However, our Pharmacy will offer this service to patients prescribed a new medicine if they feel it will help with their compliance and understanding of their medication and condition. The service is for people who have received their first prescription for a medicine to treat any of the following conditions, Asthma, Lung conditions such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema, Type 2 diabetes, High blood pressure, or any conditions where you take a medicine to control the way your blood clots.

Our Pharmacist will have a chat to you about everything you need to know before taking your new medication.
